Welcome Back to Nottingham Shine!
It’s been around two years now since we were strolling up the West-End Arcade, putting our plans together for Nottingham Shine.
Since then, we’ve been plagued by ill-health and the website software we were planning to use has deteriorated beyond recognition, but the health has recovered a little, and we’ve found an ideal replacement for the software, which means that we can now prepare for a city-wide and county-wide relaunch!
Our original vision was to give those shops and businesses in the West-End Arcade a much needed boost, but we were informed that the City Council were going to start advertising these businesses properly.
Sadly just a couple of weeks ago when we revisited these shops, there were even less (if that’s possible) customers browsing around, and we noticed that two or three businesses had given up and left empty premises.
So much for the new advertising campaign then – though we DID notice one hard-to-see layout plan of the arcade a couple of months ago – a couple of weeks ago even that had disappeared.
So what are we offering the West End Arcade businesses?
Well like ALL businesses, we are going to be offering FREE ADVERTISING (contrary to one bright spark we met who said there was no such thing as free advertising), but for all those businesses that feel they might have been let down by the City Council’s advertising campaign in the West-End Arcade, coupled up with our own feelings and memories when this place used to be a bustling enterprise, we are going to offer ALL those businesses in the WEA FREE SIDEBAR ADVERTISEMENTS as soon as they claim their business on Nottingham Shine.
We still have a run of photos that were taken a couple of years ago, and we’ll be placing those on the listings.
If these listings are CLAIMED however, new photos, website details, social networks and videos can also be added by the owner.
So what are you waiting for – get claiming your listing now – and if we’ve overlooked your business, book it in and get all those features for FREE!
For All Other Shops and Businesses
All businesses, whether they be a single man/woman operation working from home, a mobile snack bar or shop, or a market trader, will get the same kind of free advertising that we are offering to local shops, bars/cocktail bars/coffee shops, city centre shops, and five storey department stores and multiplexes.
You’ll probably find that eventually we’ll get around to listing you on Nottingham Shine, but the best way to get your foot in the door is to submit your OWN listing for your OWN shop or business, when we’ll get your listing published within 24 hours – probably less than that if we’re by our computer.
You can then CLAIM these new businesses and make all the content your own!
Any shop, bar, market trader or business falling within a Nottingham Postcode area is welcome to supply a free listing, and in the future, who knows? If the demand is there we might look into expanding the areas.
Placing a Listing
As we have already mentioned, we ourselves will be placing listings from all Nottingham Postcode areas whilst we’re getting up and running, which owners of these businesses can then claim and edit as their own.
But what if you fancied placing your own listing and beating us to it and promoting your own business straight away?
There’s no need to sign up for anything, just go to the top of the page and click on ‘ADD LISTING’ and add your listing – the way we have this website set up, you should be set up and ready to go straight away.
You will still have to CLAIM your listing though, as all claims need to be verified through a moderator who will either email or phone you direct to make sure that you are the business owner, or that you have the right to claim the business.
You will then get your own dashboard and be able to edit your listings, add more social media accounts, add videos, and much more.
I’m trying to add a listing but my ‘Listing Category’ is not there?
If your ‘Listing Category’ has not been added yet, just place your listing under ‘Advertising’ together with a note about your desired category, and any ‘features’ you’d like including.
This note can be added at the bottom of your ‘Description’ and will be edited out before publication.
In this way you can help Nottingham Shine to become better, as there will no doubt be hundreds of listing categories that should be added, and it is our belief that no-one knows their categories better than the business owner!
